Just did my solo last week, this was very useful as looking to upgrade my pair when I pass and I can give my current ones to my passenger.

The Zulu3 worked great, from the minute I pulled them out of the case and my instructor said oh yeah, those are nice to when I turned them on and the noise cancel kicked in, amazing! Comfortable even wearing glasses, can’t wait til next lesson ! 5 stars!!

I currently fly with the classic MGL 😂
Really like the LZulu 3! Thinking of getting either the Zulu 3 or Bose A20, but waiting for the next video to get a better understanding of the differences between the 2💪🏼

Overall great video like always🔥🔥

I was debating between the A20 and Zulu 3. Decided on the Zulu 3 for three reasons: 1. Better comfort. 2. Cost less than the A20. 3. Kevlar cord.

Their customer service is awesome! Great review!

Where or how do you get it in south africa ? Its close to 19k ZAR with absolute aviation which is close to a 1000USD. Any where that you can get it for cheaper ? Thanks for the great video.

I looked at and tried the Lightspeed Zulu 3 and the Bose A20 before replacing my old ANR headsets (a good brand, but older technology). I bought the A20 headsets because I thought that they were worth the extra $200, largely due to their flexibility of setup and general quality of sound reduction. I fly pretty noisy aircraft and as you said, one's hearing when lost is not replaceable.

Some contrasting comments here on the quality of the Lightspeed. Some say they are just junk, which is not my experience. I brought brand new in mid 2018, flying about 500 hours a year, and have had no issues apart from the usual wear and tear. I fly in skydive operations, up and down, sometimes all day, in all types of conditions, sun streaming in the cockpit, and up to 18k where it can be bloody cold. Headset on and off my head 2-3 times per flight hour, of course the ear seals and mic muff degraded over time, so I just replaced those myself last year. Haven't had to touch the headband. Cord falling apart? Never experienced it, in fact not even close. The cord still looks brand new. I really can't explain what others have experienced, it just hasn't happened to me, and I've never had to contact Lightspeed's customer service so I can't comment about that either. I'd recommend them.

I wear glasses too and did not have any problems with sound leakage near my ears..
Why not compare it to the David Clark ONE-X?
Btw I have a Zulu and DC One-x. Both are great and cheaper than the hyped Bose.

Lightspeed offers a thicker head pad if you need your headset to sit higher on your head that you can buy and install yourself!

I been using the Zulu 3 since my early for about a year since I started flight school, and this review seems reasonably accurate. The dip switches compared to the bose are annoying is my only real complaint, some aircraft I've flown have a stereo intercom and without a pin its hard to change from stereo to mono mode.

If you read the manual, you can find the instructions to switch on all the sound in the intercom/radio recording. I use the lightspeed zulu h mod, witch is the helmet com kit. I bought it to protect my ears in helicopters (turbine). i don't know, if i would buy it again.. Its even more expensiv.

Thank you for the review. My personal experience with Lightspeed has been really bad. I had two Zulus with broken cables and there were no spare parts available from the manufacturer. The support was horrible and now the headsets are essentially garbage. I can only warn against purchasing a Lightspeed headset based on my experience.

Taking my first flight in the Zulu3 this afternoon, student pilot in training, will let you know the outcome! Fly safe!

Just got mine in the post today. Got a lesson Monday and Wednesday so we’ll see how they do! They feel super nice so far. I just wish they included a manual in the box. As for the recording through the app, I read somewhere that you have to switch one of the DIP switches to on for it to record ATC, you and your passengers.

How do you know when the batteries are getting low?

Zulu is a joke. I bought 3 headsets over 3 years. This winter all my headsets started to decompose. Cables flake, all plastics have gone stickie and ear muffs decompose. I contacted zulu to see about repairs. They won't support or repair these. I spent over 2400.00 .
The best they offered is a 200.00 trade in . So after 8 years my headsets are worthless. How insulting the 200.00 offer. Never again will buy zulu.
