AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE GPU Review & Benchmarks vs. RX 7900 XT, 7800 XT, RTX 4070 Super

This review and benchmark of the AMD RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) GPU arrives because AMD has now decided to release the card to the global market. Previously, the US and most of Europe didn't have official first-party channels to get the card, but AMD has released it at a $550 price point, with a release date of (in theory) February 27, 2024. Although it's already been released, so it's not really a "release date" -- more of a re-release date. The only meaningful change from original launch is that there are more partner models now, with some pushing clocks higher than the original reference RX 7900 GRE. Comparisons are primarily against the RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 XT, RTX 4070, and RTX 4070 Super, but we have almost every modern/relevant GPU in the charts. Intel Arc is also included. The RX 5700 XT even makes one appearance.

I haven't built a pc in like 10 years or so, but always check out GN for newest benchmarks and because Steve is just a very pleasant host that can fire some spicy shots

It may have been launched already, but it's still is 7% faster than I was expecting. The original launch only had it like 5% faster than the 7800xt. The 12% average faster gap actually somewhat justifies it's existence now.

The 7900 GRE honestly feels like what the 7800xt should've been.

My 9 year old GTX 950 burned randomly yesterday after a power cuttoff, this GPU might be just what I needed for a replacement if it goes by that price in Europe...
Thanks Steve :)

A few system builders local to me in EU have had these as available options in their towers for a while now. Good to see it hit the open market as ive been wanting one of these since I found out they were a thing like 2/3 months ago.
Always have and always will be an advocate for the low power but high compute/render options. running 65w cpus since I traded up from the i5 3570k to 4460 almost 10 years ago.

This Pulse RX 7900 GRE reminds me of my own Pulse RX 6600 with how close the fans are to each other, but with obviously 3 fans instead of 2.

Thanks GN, your guy's analysis and videos prove time and time again to be miles ahead of everyone else on this platform, can always count on getting a precise placing of every GPU (Jesus there are so many pls stop releasing them for a little while)

I was confused when I saw all the "7900GRE RELEASED!!!" notifications. Thanks for that info right off the top, Steve+Team!

As someone still rocking a 5700xt, The GRE actually seems enticing.
