im planning on getting into sew kayaking getting intro and safety courses and then go out with a guide on a level for newbies .im in my late fourties but i feel its never too late.

From what I have seen, this is a great course. Some think the sport is dying out here in the US, judging from the ages of sea kayakers being mostly older (50+), but others say no. Most of the ACA courses applicable to sea kayaking are for instructors. This sport should be more popular, it ties other outdoor exploration activities together because some gear is common to them (camping, hiking, backpacking) and really isn’t any more expensive than those. But, to me it appears that it’s the poor availability of on-water safety activities related to sea kayaking that is holding the sport back here in the US (and proliferation of recreational kayaks designed for day use and marketed for the masses), and that’s too bad, it’s so much fun and not any more dangerous than other water sports. C’mon young people, this sport is every bit as cool as kite surfing, let’s go.
