In 1989, Professor Margaret Johnson was the first dedicated HIV consultant to be appointed in the UK and has built a service which provides holistic care, delivered by a multidisciplinary team, to more than 3,000 regular patients.
She has been the principal investigator of many major studies for antiretroviral drugs and also focuses on research into cures for HIV. She has a particular research interest in women with HIV. In this talk, she will discuss the changes in HIV treatment over the past 30 years, sharing stories and examples of research from her career.
