Why Apple Ditched The iPod Touch

The iPod was one of Apple's most successful products as it accelerated Apple out of a rough 1990s. Apple cleverly maximized on this success by building out the product line by launching various iPod models like the iPod shuffle, nano, and the touch. Though most of these were successful in their own right, the iPod model that stands out by far is the iPod touch. In the early 2010s, the iPod touch was extremely popular as it was essentially a cheap substitute for the iPhone. Though it couldn't make calls or send SMS, it could basically do everything else that an iPhone could. However, over the past several years, the iPod touch has faded out of the light, and it's quite uncommon to see someone using one in public. This video explains what happened to the iPod touch and why Apple decided to ditch one of their most successful products.

The iPod’s legacy will still live If “pod”casts stay popular.

I the iPod Touch 7 generation is always sold out in my area. The rep at Best Buy and Target have told me once they get them in stock it's sold out that same day. I just bought one 128GB and I love it

I love iPods. I don't use a cell phone. I download audio books to the max, love Apple Music, and am even willing to pay monthly for that. The fact that Apple is ditching the iPod Touch is troubling to me for one main reason: it seems that Apple is more concerned with tracking and location of it's customers than the pleasure of it's music and podcast customers. I may just forget Apple, lose that extra 10 a month I pay for Apple Music and permanently switch to a smart phone without a phone chip. What is the point, after all, in trying to keep my apps working when Apple has abandoned the iPod touch?

Appreciated this video very much. Thank you.

I just got an ipod 7th gen yesterday, I'd rather an ipod for music/audio books because of the size and the 3.5m headphone jack, as my bluetooth headphones can utilize it if the battery on them dies., the only downside obv is battery life, but if you treat it well, turn off all the b/s battery draining settings, etc, and aren't constantly turning the screen on/off, you can easily make the battery almost last a full day

You can't put a bigger battery, it's too small and slim, haven't you worked this out ?

I'm updating my ipod touch 7 to ios 15 now. I bought it a couple weeks after launch. I use it for podcasts/music to save battery and storage space on my phone. Its also the only apple device I own currently as I have an android phone. When i bought it I had a flip phone that could hotspot and I used it all the time but now that I have a Samsung flip 3 I hardly use my ipod anymore

Honestly they should sold those Cheaper Ipod at places like India, Indonesia, and other emerging major smartphone market as a substitute for an expensive Iphone.
Iam sure people that wanted Apple Phones or prefer IOS for Fame will probably buy it.
Anyway keep it up Hari

I still use iPod. I also have iPhone. I use my iPod for music at work as using my phone would be too annoying as I also use my phone for calls etc and I want to be able to pick a few playlists and shuffle them. I have just upgraded to the 7th Gen. 256gb having over 9000 songs I can have them all downloaded so I have it on flight mode and it actually lasts a couple of days on battery. iPod will always have a place in my heart.

I think that they will release a new ipod touch since they released the 2019 model

Ok hear me out... Apple re releases an IPOD touch, or ipod classic. This time with an micro SD slot, a full equalizer and support for FLAC and WAV files, this new ipod touch would be a fully portable DAP, but better. It could play all your old itunes songs, and have support for your other songs. It would be lit as hell. They could call it ipod xenon or something
