The selenium level depends on the country. Most of EU has low selenium soil and fortifies animal fodder.
Finland for example is an exception in the EU fortifies the soil instead and has higher selenium in plant food.

Where I live wheat (≤5μg per 100g) is not a good source of selenium.

I have heard that Brazil nuts have high standard deviation in selenium content. That might be a problem if you rely for selenium on Brazil nuts and consume them regularly (overdosing).
I just supplement it.

While supplementation may be beneficial for those who have a low intake, supplementation could cause issues in those who have a normal or high intake. Selenosis, or selenium toxicity, is dangerous and can cause side effects such as hair loss, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting.

So it is good for people with low production of thyroid hormones like with hypoactive thyroid but people like me with overactive thyroid or hyperactive it would be very harmful. I can’t understand when these medical professionals talk about things like this they don’t differentiate. They should explain that it is good in some instances and give a disclaimer for instances where it is bad

If you use brazil nuts be sure to soak them over night before consuming.

That was not whole wheat pasta and bread on those pictures, though.

Why would selenium be so important if it's in everything?
