A Red Bull Air Race pilot typically navigates a multi-kilometer racetrack of 25-meter-high pylons in under 60 seconds, packing in chicanes, high-G turns and a minefield of possible penalties. Winning requires split-second reactions while flying at three times highway speed and bearing G loads equivalent to around 1,000kg. Learn all about how it feels to fly in the Red Bull Air Race.

About: The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features the world's best pilots in a motorsports competition based on speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile and lightweight racing planes, Red Bull Air Race pilots navigate a low-level aerial race track made up of air filled pylons, flying at speeds reaching 230mph while withstanding forces of up to 10g. The objective is to complete the course, navigating the 65 feet high specially designed inflatable pylons known as Air Gates in the fastest possible time. Red Bull Air Race pilots must pass between the Air Gates in the correct position taking care not to touch them with their wings. The pilots compete for points at each Red Bull Air Race and the one who accumulates the most at the end of the season is crowned Red Bull Air Race World Champion.

Why air racing is the most criminally underrated sport in existence.

I swear this is the argumentative epiphany of proving racing an actual sport

I regularly fly glider aerobatics. We normally operate at 4g for a few seconds. Trust me when I say that what you see here is beyond superhuman.

I'm sorry just Red Bull cancelled the series recently. Hope they bring it back in future. One thing I'm impressed with his add an incredible safety record.

Sounds like they’re practicing the perfect Mario run, memorizing all the jumps and turns with split second reflexes

They pull more G's than the Bloods and Crips.

What is phisically worse to the body? 1 minute pulling 5g's mean with a 12 g peak, or mantaing 3-6 g's like in F1 between intervals but for longer time?

I was asked to be a fighter pilot once, I took a moment at the time since I was into flight sims at the time. Then I remembered that one time at Disney on the roller coasters and was like “No I’ll stick with the ground” then I became a Marine lol

Lmao imagine these planes used as fighters in ww1

With all of that Maneuverability, it'll literally be a killing machine

For those who don't know, you can't compare them to fighter pilots since a fighter pilot have to take the G's up to 30 sec or more but the red bull pilots are only in 12 G's in a split second any longer and the plane would fall to pieces
