Today I’m going to talk to you about home remedies for toothaches. Toothaches can be painful whether you have a sore tooth or your baby is teething.

I have three top home remedies for overcoming toothaches fast. The first thing that is vital to alleviating your toothache is essential oils. The best essential oil you can use, according to medical literature, is clove oil because it has the highest amount of antioxidants in the entire world. For a teething baby, you may want to take equal amounts of clove oil and coconut oil and rub it on the gum area.

Secondly, sea salt is a great natural remedy for toothaches. If you take some sea salt and gargle it with water, making sure it swooshes around the painful area, it can help heal with it’s natural antibacterial properties.

Lastly, peppermint oil has menthol in it, which can help numb that painful area of your mouth. Reducing or eliminating excess sugar from your diet can also be effective when overcoming your toothache. If you really want to get rid of your toothache, I would recommend swooshing sea salt in your mouth, then rub a clove and peppermint oil mixture on the tooth.

The nice part about toothache is when it goes away. Feels awesome to just feel normal again.

It's crazy how your teeth can cause such immense pain. I rather get my period then deal with a tooth ache.

This pain is ridiculous the only thing that holding this pain in is me literally holding a ice pack on my mouth for hours.. this makes you appreciate a normal mouth much 😭

I'm an amateur caring for toothaches. It feels like being hit in the face but the pain doesn't go away. I tried clove oil and at first, it worked but it's back! I've been on painkillers all day. Helps. Now I popped open a box of the Red Cross brand toothache relief. It seems to be numbing the area. I'm seeing the dentist in two days. Hope I can make it. :( Respect to anybody that can withstand this pain. It's epic.

Wow, I have awful tooth pain and have been using only clove. It was giving me very temporary relief. I added peppermint and sea salt rinse. This is the best I have felt in 60 hrs. I am about to repeat. Thanks. Tooth pain is the worst!

What sucks the most is when the pain goes away for a little while ...and you enjoy that *BAM* comes right back feeling even worse!
I will try these tips.

My 11 year old is dealing with a baby molar tooth that is nearly out but causing pain. I had no clove oil or Peppermint oil (Note to self to by some at the store next trip) but I did have sea salt. I mixed plenty of sea salt into a warm cup of water and she swished with it about a minute or so. She said "Hey Dad, it doesn't hurt any more and there is just one root left!" =) Update: Tooth out, rinsed with more salt water, happy kid, all is well.

Just to contribute my experience: toothache (low level pain, 3 to 4 out of 10, from nerves) over the weekend, then Dentist found a small crack from the top biting area on Tuesday. She did the filling. Now (Thursday) pain still there, same level. My pain remedy: so far I found two ways to reduce the pain: 1) Keep a room temperature water in my mouth to cover the pain area. I found this is more effective than keep an ice pad on the side of my face. Can't explain why it works except to think that it help reduce the blood flow to the area and thus reduce pressure on the nerve. 2) Rather than taking the Tylenol, I make it into powder and apply to the pain area (try to avoid swallow too much drug). Hope this help others. I also have a worry: reducing the pain is good, but keep have this pain would it cause damage to the nerve? And thus cause complication in case if I need a root canal??
