Ibanez JEM 777 LNG Vintage Guitar repair/ restoration in my Luthier Workshop. Dr. Dan from @IbanezGermany asked me to take care of his @IbanezOfficial JEM 777 LNG that was Made 1987 in Japan. This iconic guitar is a Legend and a Steve Vai Signature Model. It was such a pleasure working on this amazing Instrument. I am really impressed of the high quality work they did back in the days. Check out the other Ibanez JEM DY repair that I have released exactly one year ago...

I love the whiplash from repairing a '56 Les Paul to this

I like guitars like this. It's like a sports car from the 80s. All the fancy technology and trimmings of the time, but also 40 odd years old.

That sound boost trick you do at the end of the video is something I do also, but I do it a slightly different way. I put the strings on and bring them up to pitch, then I loosen the screws and let the strings pull the neck heel to the body, then tighten them down. It does improve the natural sustain of the guitar.

Hello Mr. Petrek!, such a great job that it looks part of the woodgrain in the end!

When you blew away the super glue, I did so in my head, hehe. Great video. I love that era of Ibanez guitars. Subbed.

😊hey Petrek very good job ! I've got the same problem with my black Ibanez jem 77 fp( flower patern) of 1988 now i see how you do it to process😊
But my question is; what kind of solution ( liquid)do you use to set up the color of the neck wood ? I hope you understand my question i am french and my english is so far ( l 59 yo) 😂

Would using a suction cup with the glue on the cracks help get the glue deep into the crack? I think that is what Ted Wooford does.

Great work ! This my favorite Jem model, never been a fan of the Evolutions pickups and gold hardware : whereas I am a sucker for a Yellow desert sun Jem with Paf PRO's. Having played one, this guitar is smoking !

You need a good set of metric Allen/hex drivers for working on Floyd Rose equipped guitars!! 🤘

Those screw through the neck locking nuts were problematic on those thin necks. Not just Ibanez either. Great work making those cracks disappear. I can't wait until your next adventure.

hi Nik another fantastic repair and restoration! i wish you were here in LA as i would engage your repair regularly😊 As with your desert sun yellow JEM vid, you left the neck pocket cracks alone - is that because its just a finish crack? how do you diagnose a finish crack vs a wood crack? thank you!😎🙏

Hi Nik ! when you put on the glue inside the cracks, how can you know how deep this glue is going into the the wood ?

Can you teach how to restring for acoustic?

I'd say that guitar has been previously subject to a complete restoration and repaint. Apart from the neck pocket crack (which are a known weakness on these guitars..) there doesn't appear to be a single ding/mark on that body. The headtsock decal also doesn't appear to be exactly in the correct position

What did you use to tint/oil the neck on the back after scraping and sanding?
