What Would Happen If All Ice On Earth Melted?

Many people have wondered what would happen if all the glacial ice on the planet melted. Some believe that it would be a water world with no land in sight, while others think that could never happen. But the Earth is changing in more ways than you might think on its own. Many might wonder how much of the Earth’s current global warming trend is affected by humans. Regardless of who is to blame, whether the planet is just going through a natural phase in its evolution, or if we are responsible, the evidence shows that the planet is getting warmer and warmer every year. But just how much of the planet could end up covered in water if all the glacial ice melted?

We hope you enjoyed the video. Do you have an idea on how we could stop global warming? Let us know in the comments. If you enjoyed watching this video, then make sure to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications so you’ll be the first to know when a new episode arrives. Thank you for watching!

One fact that most people ignore is that when arctic ice was formed it did in fact expand. So when Arctic ice is in water has already displaced its tonnage and when it melts it just changes its phase from solid to liquid. Therefor NOT rising the water level at all. You can test this by doing an experiment at home! Take a plastic container and fill it with water and put a lid on it. Place it in the freezer and let it freeze completely. Once you are ready, remove the ice from the freezer. You may notice that the container is either cracked or the lid has come off. This explains the expansion of frozen water. Next place the ice in a larger mixing bowl and fill it the rest of the way with water, right to the very tippy top. Now observe that as the water melts, the water level will not rise at all! Food for thought!

The more we watch YouTube videos the warmer it gets..

The world has been changing for billions of years. I don't think it's going to stop.

The editor didn't mention that melting ice needs energy, and also evaporating water too. If it is warm enough to melt all the glacier ice than the oceans become colder an if Water goes into steam the weather becomes colder, not only due to the clouds covering the earth.

It is a good thing there has been record ice growth recently.

This was more of a general global warming / climate change video. It didn't have a lot about what would happen if all ice on Earth melted. Kind of disappointed given the title.

maybe I missed something, but earlier in the movie it said that the ice has been melting at an exponentially larger amount each year, but then it just said that " x " ( I forget the exact number ) amount of ice has melted each of the last however many years. How can the ice melt be growing larger exponentially each year, but the same amount of ice has melted each year in the last however many years it said also?

I can remember a scientist looked into global warming many years ago and what he found was all the sensors planted around cities showed a marked difference of a few degrees over a 25 year span, whereas other sensors in the wilderness actually went down a fraction of a degree, of cause it went up in the cities, more lorries, cars and central heating was the contributors.
Another misnomer was when I was standing in St. Marks Square in Venice in 1969 tagging along with a group when I heard the local guide mentioning that if you stood perfectly still you can feel the ground movement now and again, he said as its built on stilts and together with the sea actually rising this square will be under water in 25 years time, I was there again a few years ago during a cruise, 48 years has past and yes certain times during the high tide the water has breached some of the streets but no where near what was predicted, I would like to know how much has the land sunk or is it actually rising sea level.

Fact: we are at an average of 400 ppm co2. Below 150 ppm co2, plant life dies

The reason Mars has no atmosphere is become it has no magnetic field.

I disagree with this theory, there is more sea ice below the surface than on top so the amount of Ocean level we have, has already been taken up. So if all the ice melted (which would be the surface ice) the Ocean levels would only rise only by a few feet. ....scare mongering

If all the ice melted on Earth, my Pepsi would be a bit watered down.

I gotta correct you here:

Mars lost its atmosphere due solely to solar flares and the suns radiation because the core of mars no longer is producing a Electromagnetic sphere to protect the planet from solar wind etc. A comparison of Venus would have been much better. But, to assume global warming or green house had anything to effect on mars is complete and total BS. For, we just do not have enough data to even understand Mars previous climate. What we do know, is the thermal activity of the planet and its geology is pretty much dead aka no electromagnetic sphere = no protection from solar wind.

Theoretically if our planet lost its electromagnetic sphere, and yes this has happened before about 520 million years ago right before the BIG explosion of life.... and could have happen at least 3-4 times in Earths history for a period of a few thousand to millions of years....then we would be dead within a year. Reason #2 why we need to expand into space and off this rock.

Like George Carlin said we can’t hurt the earth. We are only hurting ourselves. Earth will be here long after humans are gone we are not a threat to the planet

Have you ever wondered how much deeper the oceans would be if not for all the sea sponges?

If all the ice melted, the beach would be a lot closer to my house. 😁

Still haven't convinced me to sale my cold weather gear. Recently purchased 2 electric blankets and a large quartz heater. When politicians promise you anything - expect the opposite. You will be right about 90+ % of the time.

"And so, Zod, Gnock, and Yor, that is how humans died out, their planet turning into another Venus-like trap."
"That's amazing dad. If only they knew what they were doing to it."
"Oh, they knew."
"What? Come on, dad, that's crazy."
"Nope, it's true. We've seen their news, read their science papers. They knew. They did it anyway."
