The wings on this Airbus flex way more than they should

I used to work for Airbus building wings for A300/310/320/321/340 and believe me they are put together extremely well.

Way more than they should is a good thing

Trust me the wings would never flex that much during normal flight operations. The aircraft is built with huge safety margins in case for some reason it is subjected to extreme g forces, which only happens in storms and we don’t fly into severe storms. This is perfectly normal.

I experienced turbulence for the first time. Admittedly this did make me feel a lot better about airliners. Although I've flown before, It was closer to the ground and in a Robinson R44

On a plane from Tōkyō to Kyūshū, it looked like I was inside of a bird flapping its wings because of some turbulence. Of course, we were over the ocean and I was calculating the odds of not being eaten by a shark if surviving one of the wings coming off.

Back in the old days of air travel I took a trip across the pacific in a then newish 747. (The most beautiful airliner ever created). We encountered some clear air turbulence and it freaked everyone out. One of the stewardesses was talking to me about the massive amount of flex built into the wings. It really did make me feel better. (But truthfully, I bet that wing moved a total of 8 or 10 feet at its tip)

There is something known as v-n diagram which is established during the design phase of aircraft which tells us all the structural & aerodynamic limits of the aircraft
