As a new private at Ft. Drum back in '88, one of my first assignments was to walk the Arty range in kevlar, flak vest and canteen on pistol belt with a hand full of flags looking for unexploded rounds. When we found unexploded ordinance, we would stick a flag next to it so EOD could come get it later. they did give us instructions to step carefully.... fun times.

im the type that loves seeing rounds fly and impact, not so much when watching the gun shoot.

Whatever the question is, artillery is the answer.

I was on the radios in the C.P. on one live fire Ex when some poor guy had “taken a wrong toin’ at Albuquerque” and ended up driving through the Impact Area as our rounds were falling. That was the fastest Check Fire in history. And likely an underwear check for the guy on the other end of that radio. 😆

Love how he sits on the towed Howitzer when he fires it. I bet that’ll pucker your sphincter the first time that sucker goes off.😂

Looked like fort sill. Time on target missions are awesome! I trained on the m109a6 at sill but got sent to fort campbell where they had the 119a2. I miss all of it. Too bad there was no footage of the m119 in machine gun mode, 9 rounds in a minute was the fastest my section ever fired and as the number 1 man, it was the most fun. Hooah!

1:27 the definition of: You see that tree line over there... "yes sir" ... I don't like it ... "aye sir"

When I first joined the Australian Army Artillery my detachment sergeant told me our main job was to get rounds down range on a target area the size of a football Field about 18 km away or 11 miles fnot an easy thing to do

I suppose the modern question is: old style non-sp tube artillery. Can you now?

How frequently would a howitzer be used in the anti-tank roll on a modern battlefield?

does any military use the auto eject mechanism like the WW2 german 88? the 105 seems painfully slow.

Is the brown smoke impact an identification of a unexploded? Ordinance compared to the white smoke

I thought the 105 was not used anymore in favor of the 155
