I initially had a 20 long on my metal stand. On paper, at least in AqAdvisor, fish stocking density is the same as the 29. But when I changed over to the 29, the result was somewhat counterintuitive. I had live plants and some wood in both and I basically used the same decorations. The 29 has a lot of open space in the top half, and one might think that the fish wouldn't use that space, but my school of 9 harlequin rasboras use the upper area exclusively, and all of my other fish use the open and structured parts of the tank interchangeably. So the impression is one of lower fish density. My plants have benefited as well. I use a small LCD light, mainly on the left side which is away from the window. I have it on for 7-8 hours a day. I had more of an algae problem in the 20, and almost no algae problem now. The plants are growing better in the 29; in fact I have to trim them every other week. Finally, I think that the 29 looks better, aesthetically, than the 20 long. I can't say that other people's experience will necessarily be the same as mine, but to me the extra height is well work the extra cost and the slightly extra work in maintaining it.

I love my 29 gal tank. We live in a small house with 4 people. Its also a great size to learn how to do fish keeping.

Pros: It's a fantastic size and dimension for a tank
Cons: It's not bigger

I started with a small 3 gallon tank from walmart when I was 16, and quickly upgraded to a 29 gallon tank and a few 10s here and there. 29 gallon has been my favorite so far and is a perfect size now that I'm renting a room.

I have both a 29 gallon and 20 long. The 29 looks more impressive because of the height, but I like the long and low look of the 20 more. I used a very sturdy TV stand for my 29 gallon that I bought back when a big TV had a big back and weighed a ton. It has a side storage door for bottles, tools, etc. and my buckets fit behind the glass door on the bottom. Keep up the great video work!

IMO, the 29 gallon aquarium is a nice "step-up" for someone who had 10 or 20 gallon aquariums. Additionally, it's a good choice in general for those folks that don't have the physical space for a 40 or 55 gallon tank. 🐠🐟🐠🐟

29 gallon tanks were the most common tank back in the day. I had 3 of them in the early 70s

Just moved my Goldfish into 29 and Big John loves it. Plants, space and live bait. Kept the 10 G for a temporary live well for fishing minnows.

Just bought a 29 on the petco dollar per gallon sale. I had the intentions of building my own stand, then all of this craziness hit and we have a stay at home order now. Perfect timing with this video. Have a 29 a fish friend gave me and don't know where to put it, since we all have time on our hands, was going to set it up where the 20 long is and transfer everything from the 20 L to the 29. Good point qbout weight tho, Do you know how much a 20 L filled with plants, substrate, etc would weigh? Don't want a pandemic and a flood!
