My parents are from little towns around Lafayette, Louisiana married next month 55 years. My Mom and Dad saw Otis Redding live at a small venue a few months before he passed away around Lafayette, LA. My Dad said they were about 15-20 feet from him on stage. Said he was unbelievably awesome. Had the crowd stunned! What a cool memory he shared with me.

WOW this is so beautiful still in 2023 Listening to OTIS will never get old to me. Even the day December 10, 1967 we lost him is engraved in my brain 55 years5 months later. I was that great of a fan.

Sam Cooke's version comes from the heart but Otis Redding's version comes from the soul

The language that every human being understands, nomatter what colour, nomatter what race. The language of soul.
Who on earth would start a war with such beauty flowing through his ears...

Mister Redding is touched by the Grace. No matter if you don't speak English, all men will understand and more cause he talks about all of us... I. M afraid to die... Change gonna come for all of us

This man never hits a wrong note. I was able to see Otis, James Brown and Little Richard in concert in Atlanta about 1965.

21 and amazed by this masterpiece. Been listening to his album on repeat. He’s been God gifted and taken from us too early.

Paying my respect to a legend.

Been listening to Otis since I was a child. Now 46. I can't say anyone comes close. The pace. The raw sound. His beautiful beautiful voice. It's like it's a carefully capped energy explosion they're trying to contain, that the brass every so often releases like a pressure cooker releases steam. It does this to your heart and emotions at the same time, its the very essence of soul. Keeps you hanging off every note, dangling in a state of pure love . Soul.

I can remember the day Otis Redding died.  I was a young girl living in a one bed room apt with my 4 brothers and 1 sister along with my mother and stepfather.  I was listening to the HI-FI and it came across the WOL- radio in Washington, DC.  I cried my eyes out as they played additional Otis Redding hits....RIP my brother-man. Because of you and my natural father BLUES are my favorite music....I like the way they sadden me and force me to remember where I came from

Played this at our kids funeral. The acoustics in the big old church made the song even more breathtaking. Tony loved Otis he said Otis was one of the few singers could bring him to tears. Thanks Mr Redding x love you for ever Bro x k x

Otis Redding was a special talent. His passing robbed the world of decades worth of great music, but what he left us in his short 26 years still resonates with us today.

Been a low start to my 2024 yr...This song takes me to a place that allows me to reflect, and sometimes cry in peace. Just riding in my truck me and Otis. Reminding me not to focus on ny downfalls and to remember how far ive come. KEEP YA HEAD UP fellas. A change gone come

One of the best, if not the Greatest example of soulful singing. Truth in execution and exuberance brought through a man so young yet so rich of life that God saw fit he leave us at such a young age. Otis is and will always be a testament to life and emotion. His voice, his life, his legacy. Thank you Otis for giving us a piece of your soul.

both the Sam Cooke version and Otis Redding one are both legendary pieces of music, art even. It would be unfair to compare one to the other, they are both unique, yet share the same powerful message that makes me emotional every single time.

When Otis sings this song.. you FEEL it in your soul.
When anyone else sings it, its just another song.

I'm not sure there has ever been an artist that could touch so many hearts so profoundly. Personally, Mr. Redding is among the top of the list, and few others can bring the emotion, the musical brilliance, and unfortunately the tragic life story of Mr. Redding.
He passed before my life began, but he has touched my heart so deeply, and so many lives before, since, and I'm sure, in the future. A true poet. RIP Mr. Redding!

What a special voice ! Could you imagine that he got this voice at only 24 years ? This guy was an overgifted singer and a special human being
