When I was studying abroad in London I took a day trip to Leeds to visit the Royal armories.

The one day I chose to visit was coincidentally the day that the international jousting tournament was.

I had no idea of it before I got there, but once I heard about it I made sure to get my ticket.

Bc it’s not often that you get to say, “I went to a jousting tournament”

Had to support Team USA, but I know I got a few looks from people at how loud I was cheering for the team lmao.

My friend had a pawn shop. A man who was a jousting competitor would pawn his armor there. It had many dents and marks from hits he had experienced.

I was very fortunate when I visited the museum some 25 years(?) or so ago, to see a display of poll arm fighting between two guys in full head to toe armour, a bird of prey show and a jousting exhibition, all in the one day! Last time I visited, the place was full of German soldiers, British Tommies and U.S. G.I.s with various WW2 vehicles. On each occasion, I had no idea these events were going to be on (in fact, staying in the hotel next door, I was wakened by what I thought were local construction workers starting their shift when in fact, it was a German half-track being unloaded from a trailer). Of course, it's not always like this but well worth a visit nevertheless.
