Great review. Told me what I wanted to know from a prospective purchaser's point of view. Having owned 3-series and 5-series before, the BMW family perspective was apt. Accents are good, don't change a thing.

I have the 2018 M-Sport 230i hardtop coupe, with moonroof, in Seaside Blue. It's a wonderful car! Smooth as glass and pretty nimble!

Aussies and Yanks may laugh but the best selling 2 Series Convertible in the UK and across Europe comes with a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine. We do have the 230 and 240 models as well, but a little open top number like the 2 Series has (a) nothing to prove, and (b) is meant more for cruising around the countryside on a slow Sunday in summer. As a result, and because they're nearly always bought as a second car over here anyway, the 0-62 (0-100) time isn't what such cars are about. Sexist as some will find it, the fact is it's often considered a "wife's little runaround" over here. The 1.5 engine delivers an official 60mpg too btw.

Lovely looking car. Sadly in the UK we have to take the 220i or 220d if we want Sport trim.
I'd really love this 230i spec model, but it is MSport trim only in the UK with that engine.

Another great review Tom! Have you had a choice to drive the LCI 2 1 series? I'm interested in the prospect of the entry 118i as I have a soft spot for turbo 3 bangers and I've heard the 100kw unit is pretty sweet. Disappointed they're dropping the RWD platform on it as it's one of the last RWD hatch backs and actually pretty affordable in the 3 cylinder guise.

A great reflection on BMW at 4:40 Tom. You could have gone on to the destruction of the nomenclature of BMW's models where the numbers no longer bear any relationship to the engine.

You didn’t talk about storage capacity with top up and top down, or noise levels compared to the coupe...jesus man.

While your review soudn interesting in couldnt stand your anoying nasal voice thats sound cheesy fry deep, work with a vocal trainer and you will improve your intonation in a more natural pitch for you, cheers
