My Onkyo RZ series does that. My Onkyo TX series does that too. It’s measuring the distance between the speakers

i think this is a similar process to how people calibrate studio monitors, so however this works i guess this is just a proven method to calibrate speakers. im assuming as well that thing you put on your head was a mic (or array of mics) that use the sound from the sound bar to make it sound the best it can for you but also probably calculate your room noise and other things the soundbar can utilize. i mean im not sure if this is correct, kinda just vauge things i have seen online plus probably assuming a bit how it works but.

Actually, it's to calibration, the built-in speaker Sony and other stereo receiver do them to enhance the sound quality of the area that you are in
