On Monday 29th July 2013, listeners to BBC Radio 2 heard for the first time the stations' new sonic logo as part of a new update to their on air branding by Wise Buddah.

In addition to a new seven note sonic logo, Wise Buddah also provided 10 new IDs to update the package, which now has over 50 separate cuts.

Once again we had the honour of working with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Cliff Masterson, Beverley Knight, Clare Teal, Robbie McIntosh, Craig Blundell and the 'Wise Buddah Big Band' featuring Dave Arch, John Parricelli, Ian Thomas and a host of jazz luminaries.

The updates included ID's inspired by The Kinks, Gloria Estefan, Michael Bublé as well as a new Classical ID a Show Tunes ID and new cuts for Jeremy Vine, Mark Radcliffe, Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq.

On making the Jeremy Vine ID, composer Jem Godfrey was inspired to incorporate the sound of a phone: "I hit upon the idea of using the touch tone notes of the station's phone number as the main musical hook, 0500 288 291. Seeing as Jeremy's show features many listeners calling in to express their views and participate in the discussions of the day, it seemed a perfect way to reflect this key element of the programme".

In order to accommodate the new logo into the package each ID from the 2012 package was re--arranged and made to fit with the new sonic logo.

Listeners in the UK are extremely lucky to have BBC Radio 2. I listen when I can online and absolutely LOVE the station. Pity I can't pick it up by conventional means.

Like this package. Very contemporary sounding. It is incredible how Radio 2 has progressed from a very MOR/old time radio sounding jingle package in the late 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s to the modern AOR/contemporary format of recent years. Before Jim Moir took over in 1996, it was said the station was aimed at an age group of "35 to death"! In the early 70s it even used to have a regular show playing Edwardian music! Nowadays it's much more aimed at a "mature 25 to a young 60 plus" audience.Wise Buddah have done a great job. The news jingle and sonic logo had been used since around 1997, I think and really needed a refresh.

This Canadian is a massive fan of Radio 2 (listen to it everyday online), and indeed the BBC in general. Yeah, we have the CBC, but it's not even close to the BBC on radio, TV, and in terms of the programming on both.

This new package is just brilliant. Big, bold and instantly memorable. I definitely think the new logo melody is better than the previous one, and the whole package is miles ahead of the stuff that Groove Addicts ever produced.

Radio 2 need to remember that the majority of their dwindling listeners still choose to do so on FM. Bring back the FM jingles and get rid of the smart speaker nonsense.

We'll have to wait and see if this new tune seeps as much into the public consciousness as the old one did. My initial feeling is that it's not quite as sing-alongable, but I am well prepared to be proven wrong!
