Preset Surfing the Sequential Pro 3 at NAMM 2020

The Pro 3 is the brand new synth from Sequential. It's a 3 oscillator mono/paraphonic with a wavetable oscillator, multi-mode filter, awesome motion sequencer, great effects, and some other cool bells and whistles.

I put my hands on one for the first time at NAMM 2020. This is that footage.

I didn't expect to love this thing as much as I did. It's got an incredibly unique sound, huge and techy, grungy and distorted, sharp and round.

I needed this.
I was having a moog crisis.
My erebus isn't coming and i needed validation.
I found myself really frustrated because i am coming from modular which expects direct control.
This synth is a computer full of sub systems. All of the knobs act as encoders, you have to register zero for each knob.
I had to start from basics and learn a new way to interface with this instrument.
I remember waiting to get my pro 3 when I first heard this video driving home from work.
By the time i walked off pissed at the world, ate something, came back and started this video.
What a beautiful experience,
It takes some getting used to and she is QUIRKY AS HELL.
But GOD ALMIGHTY what a magnificent BEAST!

Great demo, sir! I spent hours playing this at NAMM - within moments it became one of my favorite instruments ever, freaking BLEW MY MIND. The perfect union of novel sound and astonishing usability, it is truly special, even by Sequential standards - I had to force myself to stop. Ordered an SE the second I got home. :)

It seems like Sequential isn't trying to make this a One Synth To Rule Them All, capable of making every sound ever conceived. Instead, it's built to simply be a good instrument for musicians. And it succeeds! I could definitely see making lots of songs with this, multitracked in the style of your Bass Station II videos.

The overdrive/distortion/feedback features are a particularly nice touch.

Some patches sounds just like the korg wavestation which I couldn't care much about... BUT, when you kick in the filters and the distortion/overdrive effects, then you're catching my attention!!

I just ordered mine! Lordy. Combined with my subsequent 37CV and prologue 16 I do believe I will be able to summon the devil to join my band! Haha!
