I put together 5 kits for my family as Christmas presents. Each one tylored to how they move and live and what they may run in to in day to day life. DIY kits are the only way to go.

if you are going to learn one knot, make it the figure 8 knot. It is the knot we used on our high angle rescue ropes (good secure attachment without causing damage to the rope, many knots will stress the rope and create fail points in it)

This is great but I would love to see you out there actually using the kit - setting up the tarp and so forth for a couple of days. Everybody seems to be sitting at a table talking about kits, but the real help is seeing people getting by with them outside. I've been watching you for a long time and I think this is a pretty good "final" solution. I'm sure you'll "evolve" it continually over time. Thanks for showing it - I didn't know they made a big kit like this. I started out with the Wise foods backpack because I could afford it, and it actually had plenty of wood and some water. They can talk all they want about how we don't need food for 3 weeks, but getting weak and decaffeinated has never improved my performance!

I’ve made my own for $370 approximately. With what I deem to be the best tools. With redundancy and utility maximization. Shelter, water, fire, defense, nutrition, first aid, construction tools and communication. Suitable for wild and urban environments. The number one tool is your mind. Thinking and knowledge are your primary survival tools.

need to add: purification filter, poncho, folding saw, head net, more fire starting tinder, water bottle, and the user would have to add some bics. A tourniquet and bleed stop would be good too. But yeah def the best kit for sale that I’ve seen.

A Millbank bag removes the chunky stuff out of the water. Worth having in a kit.

Your attention to the quality of individual items in the kit is very, very, important. A crappy carabiner, compass, etc... can screw up your whole operation and what you're trying to accomplish!

Awww...man, i thought you were going to setup the cordage to show us how to properly rappel down a cliff face or building, being the hard charging Motor Scooter that you are. Ha! But seriously, Randall is the real deal in survival, and the fact they would use their competition's items that also have NSNs to round out their kit, shows that they are not stuck on themselves. Thanks for sharing, you Mighty Awesome Devil Dog. ERRAH!

I already have a GHB made up and I'm currently building a camp bag. I spent well over $500 building my kit and man I wish I would have known that was a option because this is a solid setup. I would maybe add a Grayl and some backup batteries for my EDC flashlight.

I would guess 1, 000, if not more. Depending on what you buy. I will definitely be saving up to get this kit. Thanks for reviewing it.

It’s awesome but takes away the fun factor of doing it yourself

The ESEE kit is solid. The primary criticism of this kit is that it is the same kit it was 20 years ago, they haven't kept up with the times and there are better products for survival:
3.) MagnaCut and Vanax a Better knife steel than their basic 1095 or even their premium s35v blade steel.
4.) Grayl Titanium + H2Go Global + Steripen + tablets gives you 4 ways to process water.
5.) Clear plastic drop cloth + mylar blanket = Mor Kochanski Super Shelter for when you find yourself in the Boreal forest.

I like the kit. Maybe expensive, but you pay for what you get here. Quality quality quality

It’s awesome quality and I will not do SAR without my Esee 4. That said I feel like buying a premade kit is great for people with little to no training. By the time you learn how to use a kit like this you would know how to make your own kit, albeit customized to your liking. Great company and great kit (just not for the money).

You build a bob for your own personal use where you live not what everyone else thinks is best for you use what you need wherever you're at

I appreciate your vids, but I strongly and humbly disagree. The fact that there are more vids on DIY videos on the subject is actually proof. Years ago when one of my favorite Youtubers Kitbash survival reviewed this bad yes the items are indeed 100% top notch. However this bag doesn't offer everything a person will need. You will always, always have to add to a survival kit that's been manufactured to appeal to the masses as opposed to your specific needs for your current set of conditions.

I will say esee delivers on quality and reliability I own several products and they don't disappoint. Your statement that there's no need to diy your own bags also means there's no need to review additional gear?
Just purchase the esee survival bag and rest assured the bag has everything you may possibly need, but that's not entirely accurate, IMHO 👍
