I've had 3 retina detachments and surgeries, from boxing, over the last 20 years. floaters are no fun, but its far from blindness.

I have a detached retina in my right eye, they kind of fixed it at Dallas, I hated the pupil dilation and having to wear dark glasses for a day

This happened to a kid in my high school. He was hit hard in the face with a basketball. When they checked him for concussion they found that the retina was loose in one eye. If they hadn't caught it in time he would have been blind on that eye.
