Just in case someone out there needs this

After my last break up I had this epiphany while trying to get over her.

This is just my opinion, so hear me out. Getting over someone is a lot like getting over a sickness. It's not something you can wish away, and it's not something you can simply "get over". There is more to it than that.

If you have the flu or a cold do you say to yourself, "oh I'll just get up and feel better now because that's what I need to do"? Of course not. That would not only be irrational, but also incredibly mis informed. If you go out and keep stressing your body out, and try to pretend like you're not sick, you usually end up getting more sick before you get better, or just prolonging the sickness itself.  I think it's only natural to hate being sick, to hate being taken out of your comfortability zone. It sucks, but if you are practical about it and you take care of yourself, the odds are it will make dealing with the sickness much easier in real time, and help the sickness go away quicker. That's just reality. Take care of yourself.

Now relating that to getting over a relationship really isn't that much of a stretch. Losing someone you love is a big shock to the system. If you sit around and beat yourself up and force the issue, you're actively making yourself obsessed with a potential outcome. You're forcing yourself to feel differently because you hate the way you are feeling. Why can't I get her out of my head? Why can't I just move on? Consciously I am over it, but yet I think about her before my eyes close at night, and the first thing when my eyes open... Why? These questions aren't helping you, because the questions themselves are suggesting there is something wrong with the place you're in. There is nothing wrong dude! That's love, baby! That's what makes this world so special and yet inherently fucked up. We get to share that love with people, places, and most importantly... With ourselves. Just as we get to share out sadness with the same people. You can't ride the lighting and expect not to get shocked once in a while!

I don't want to ramble. I don't want to preach. But damn man, cut yourself some slack! It's natural to feel this way. The only way the love you felt while you were happy could be so special is because days like this exist! Ride the lightning my man. Don't attach yourself to any specific outcome or time frame. Just keep it simple and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Trust me, that's the best and most practical thing for you to do.

Think of it like a sickness and do what needs to be done. First off, remember to take your medicine. In this case your medicine is staying physically active, doing the things you love and what's important to you, and sharing what you need to share with people that love you. Treat this like a cold and don't over complicate it anymore than it already is. I promise it will pass. How, when, where, and why I can't tell you. All I know is if you help yourself, and keep it simple, you stand a much greater chance of dealing with this emotion in a healthy way. Your life will go on, and when this is all gone and forgotten you will look back and be thankful and grateful for the expirience.

I saw a comment saying they love Eden, but the lyrics can get confusing at times but I think that’s the point. I feel like all his songs are confusing, but if you ever felt this way it makes total sense and hits hard and other times you forget what it felt like, but that’s just me.
