I'm a senior computer science student and I have been programming ever since I was 12, although I definitely agree that computer science is the best major ever (maybe the best that ever existed) but the problem I see that a lot of people are getting into computer science just for the money, or just for the fact it is really popular right now and not for the fact that they are interested in computers and technology in general.

#7: Diversity of options, man you can work on so many things as a programmer. Super exciting fields like games or movies. There are jobs in solar and basic betterment of mankind. Or like, Facebook and Google for money.

Been lost in school and attending school for years now and I'm about to turn 24 with no passion or aspirations about what I want to do. About to continue taking my math classes but I am taking Accounting 1 to see if I like it but next term I'll make sure to take a computer programing class and see if I can keep up and hopefully learn. I never thought about taking it since like you stated I myself was also intimidated thinking only the smartest people that used and worked with computers since they were in high school would be the only ones to succeed. I like your empowerment you talk about. I never really had any real conclusions to what I want to actually do aside from my hobbies but I would like to have that empowerment and feeling that I have learned a lot. Thanks for the advice. If I decide to continue after taking that first class I'll be sure to change my major.

I love how people have interships in big companies like Microsoft, google, etc. And in my country there’s no companies like those :(

I’m getting into CS to be software engineer in my college this year and planned to work abroad. Coding is fun because I also wanted to be a game dev. In my current level, it’s going to be hard for me, but I hope I’d reached my goal.

I am personally interested in moving in this direction. For me the reasons are:
1) Plenty of exiting opportunities later;
2) after Corona everything will be digitalized;
3) high demand on good specialist;
4) career growth and high salary;
5) very interesting;
6) plenty of resources where to get skills...

last year i was in my second year of Med school and i dropped out cuz i figured out that its not for me and then i decided to study CS because its the major I've been always interested in, and since then a lot of people been pointing at me as a failure, but i know that I'm not, i really needed such positivity especially in the meanwhile, thank you 🙏
