I grew up right next to the Columbia River. 917 W Metaline. We had five acres with horses, cows, gardens and lots of shade trees. Our house was one of the oldest in Kennewick and it was pretty basic but we had wonderful times growing up there. Sadly everything is gone and now that good farmland has warehouses and people's extra junk stored on it. If I was a millionaire I would buy it back, along with Jesernig's property and bring back the orchards and gardens and comfortable, simple homes.

I moved to this area a year ago. Let's not idolize it by claiming it has "heart." Nothing but graffiti, shootings, murder, and arrest back to back in this area - even as the Police station is nearby. Big regret, having come from the Southridge neighborhood. It's a different time. Thus I don't let my teens walk more than a block away to the local market. They say in real estate there's always pain and pleasure. The neighborhood became my pain, causing me to prepare to sell. If you are middle aged and don't have kids, you may not mind this neighborhood. Housing next to Park middle school seems safer and I often see the teens playing on the field.

Is the homeless problem in these areas bad like the Seattle area? Are tents and stuff all over the place?
