Beautiful horn. Not sure the low A feature was well demonstrated here. Everything was beautiful, soft, dry and cool then.... A!

The Low A actually sounds as the Low C on the Viola so it's the same range as a Viola (or 5 String Violin). It actually reminds me of another instrument that was made recently, the Stuart and Sons 108 Key Piano which has the same range as an Organ, 9 Octaves so the Keys are grouped into 9 sets of 12

Had one when I was a music major in college. What a great horn. Loved the Low A key, I can't give you a technical reason, but it always felt like it helped the intonation, and it DEFINITELY gave it a warmer sound. Being a Bari player in Jazz Ensemble, when I was playing the Alto, and reached for the Low A, it was there! Nice horn. Wish to HELL I still had it.

I bought one new in 1964 with top F#
and I still get that kick everytime I open the case - beautiful instrument!

Amazing! I first saw the sax repair man's video on this saxophone and ever since I've wanted to hear it played. Well done! It's very intriguing when you're a bari player. :)

Nice. Personally I find mark vi's w/o extra keys have more depth

I played one for a bit but traded it in for a BA. Anyways part of me misses that horn. It was setup so well that the low a felt easier to play than some other notes. The extra key really does something that makes the horn feel different, like it has more mass to push even harder.

It sounds great guess extending the range would make it more fun

They should make more low A E flat alto saxophones. They should also make low A B flat soprano, low A G mezzo-soprano, low A B flat tenor, low A G mezzo-tenor, low A B flat bass, low A E flat contrabass, low A B flat subcontrabass, low A G great subcontrabass and even the low A E flat sopranino saxophones.

They should make more low A E flat alto, low A B flat tenor, possibly low A G mezzo-tenor and low A B flat bass saxophones. They should also make low A B flat soprano and if possible, low A G mezzo-soprano saxophones.
