Another note to add is that once you get over the feeling of losing all of your runes like it is the end of the world, the game becomes much more manageable

I think the main issue is that a lot of people want to play elden ring as if it was dark souls, so when they see a tool that elden ring provides that trivializes the game and that wasnt in dark souls they consider it cheating. Like the hidden cirulean tear one shot mages, bleed builds, etc.

Elden Ring was the first FromSoft game I played. On my first play through I used spirit ash summons, I over leveled, I cheesed bosses, respecced several times, and I loved every second of it.

With Elden Ring being my first From Soft game I didn’t initially get it. It took some time and dedication to get over that hill and once I did, it instantly became my favorite game ever. Every new location I found was a “holy shit” moment. The game just kept getting more and more impressive the further I got. I’m still in awe over how beautiful, yet grotesque the Lands Between are. To me, ER is at the forefront of gaming. It’s simple yet complex, gorgeous and terrifying.. a brutally rewarding game that doesn’t hold your hand.

I totally agree! As someone who really enjoys soulslike games, and fromsoft games in general, I used the spirit summons in my first play through because they’re in the game as a major feature and I highly doubt they were tacked on at the end of development as some sort of “easy mode” I feel like the people who call them an easy mode have either not used them or have only used/seen the mimic tear and as someone who used a wide variety of summons in my first play through the mimic tear is NOT representative of the summoning system on its own. And the only reason I didn’t use the summons on my later play throughs was because I want to add a little bonus challenge for myself

To be fair to the challenge runners, they aren’t the people who’d push you into playing the game a certain way, they would give this exactly same advice because they know the high difficulty more than anyone

Maaaan, I feel this so much. I went through every single DS game with my buddy in co-op and it was SO MUCH FUN. Never cared about playing it solo, because it just wasn't as fun. Don't care whether some obsessive fanboy says I played on easy mode.

The FromSoft fandom is seriously toxic, don't listen to a word they say, tbh.

Another tip I would give to people is to pay attention to what the weapon you are using scales with. I used to just plug my skill points in randomly and was never taking advantage of the weapons full potential. Made it waaay harder than was needed lol

If you are stuck go exploring also if ur on pc seamless coop mod (broken at time of dlc but they are working on it) is awsome.

There is only one meta, and its having fun. Using magic, summons, or ai cheese is getting gud
