With this video, I will show you, how you can format (hardreset, factory data reset) the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. By the way, this works also for the Google Pixel 7a.

If you want to resell the phone or give it to someone else, please remove the google account first (Settings - Password & accounts - (tap here on your Google account) Remove account - Remove account - OK - Enter phone PIN, in case you have one) or disable the "Find my Device"-option (Just go on Settings - Security - Find My Device - Off it in the blue bar)

I have used a Google Pixel 8 for that video.

Thanks for watching phonesandmore :-)

Bloody Google making these ridiculously fiddly. Also their help page is out of date with the button presses. You sir saved my life. I was about to drop kick this handset out the window. Huzzah for you!

I would like to know how many times you need to press each button in order to successfully hard reset a Google Pixel phone. I'm legally blind and I just bought a Pixel 8, but, its stuck in Estonian for the onscreen language, so I'm not having much luck navigating using Talkback text to speech screen reading software and finding the settings to change the language to English UK, so I think a hard reset might be my only option rather than waiting for somebody with fully functioning eyesight to reset the phone for me. Can somebody post the steps with the number of volume up/down button presses and the number of power of power button presses?
