Galaxidi - The island on the mainland. Cut off from other Greek mainland until 1950, the people of Galaxidi, located on the mainland’s southern tip, relied on the sea for transportation from as far back as the 18th century.

Galaxidi is sheltered from the wind by the reassuring presence of the mountains which range around it.

The town has two natural ports: the first one named Agora, is the Marina where you can moor, while the second one Hirolakas is a large bay where yachtscn anchor just in front, as the bottom is quite shallow in the middle.

Galaxidi was home to some of the country’s most important shipping families, a legacy which can be observed at  the Nautical and Historical Museum, the first of its kind in Greece.
