📜Details: Galaxidi is a town in Central Greece and from 2011 belongs to the municipality of Delphi. Is built on the west coast of the Gulf of Itea, which is the northward bay of the Gulf of Corinth. Galaxidi is more or less three hours drive from Athens. Modern Galaxidi is built on the site of ancient Haleion, a city of western Locris. In the monastery of Sotir the Greek ethnographer and scholar Constantine Sathas, discovered in 1864 a manuscript containing the “Chronicle of Galaxidi”, written in 1703 by the monk Euthymios. Galaxidi is a small port situated on a natural double harbour surrounded by mountains. In an old mansion of Galaxidi are situated two museums: the Archaeological Collection and the Maritime and Historical Museum of Galaxidi. The Carnival Season in Greece ends with the celebration of Clean Monday which coincides with the beginning of the Greek Orthodox Lent. On that particular day the custom of Alevromoutzouroma, takes place in Galaxidi.
