Always look for the silver lining, winter is coming so I won't need a refrigerator to chill my beer and it hasn't rained since July so I don't have to cut the lawn.

Make all your major purchases now. That is what I am going to do. Tariffs have their place but in your everyday household goods that come from overseas (think bigger purchases like washers, water heaters, etc.) those tariff will gets passed to the consumer.

I emigrated to the USA from the UK one month before 911 (watched from the bow of the Staten Island ferry as the second plane struck), those first few months were especially hard living in NYC but I finally started working just before Christmas that year. Now, 23 years later I'm retired and living in SC and have to admit, I am feeling more anxious now than I felt at 9.03am on Sept 11th - an immigrant, dependent on Social Security and Medicare, trying not to think too hard about what the future holds for me and others in my situation. All I can do is double down on prepping and my efforts to grow more food in the hope that that will offset the inevitable shortages and increased prices pray for a brighter future!

Four years ago, we had a raging pandemic with a high death count, soaring inflation and supply chain disruption, and a riot on the US capitol. It takes time to overcome all of that chaos. Now, inflation has finally dropped to 2.6% as of October 2024, the unemployment rate has come down, the pandemic is mostly quiet, the stock market as been steadily rising, supply chains have smoothed out, and voters decided "We need change!" Sigh. Here we go again.

Shrug, no one in DC is going to do anything for me, that's why I spent my life working. Right now I go out every day and pick up sticks that have fallen from the trees. It's cheap, free kindling. Watching people melt down like toddlers online over an election merely confirms that many aren't ready for reality.

One thing with Trump's tariffs that is overlooked is that a lot of the oil we pump is shale oil and we have very little shale oil refineries in the USA and is sold to other countries. If the tariffs apply to Imported crude oil which is the type of refineries in the USA, we could see a hike in fuel prices.

We must keep our own farm land and give back to farmer. Can’t sell farm land to foreigners and big waste companies to buy housing.

When you talk about drilling our way out of it in reference to US oil production, we already drill more oil than most oil producing countries. The problem no one wants to tell you, especially Trump, is that most of the oil the United States produces can not be refined in US refineries. That is why we ship our oil overseas and buy oil that can be refined in our refineries from overseas.
