It’s mental how people fall for these false teachers.

First of all--this is one of my favorite topics to debunk!! I'm a few minutes in, and with Chris' premise of: WOF teaches you to deny reality... All anyone has to do is track their success using this method. Example: I "confessed" (read: decreed/declared) "sanctification" thoughts for many years, as well as other "blessings" I desired. Fast-forward to today: I still struggle against certain sins, and I'm still without those certain blessings I believed God would give me if I just believed and confessed by faith. Moral of the story: It doesn't work. And the proof is usually right in the face of the hearer. It's actually one of the easier false teachings to demolish, using logic, observation, and good Bible hermeneutics. :)

I think I figured out why these teachers in the New Apostolic reformation and the word of Faith movement and all the other alphabet soups always say, can I get a amen, raise your hand, Give the Lord a shout they do this because do narcissists need reassurance from those around him. A narcissist acts like he knows everything but he's so unsure of himself that he has to have their reinforcements coming back to him from his audience and if it doesn't come then the true narcissist comes out and you are garbage and he is the greatest.

It was the revelation, the thought that I was an alcoholic that allowed me to repent and turn away from that sin. It's the thoughts about yourself you don't have - the denial of reality that kept me in my sin. Thank God for the negative thoughts about my sin that lead to repentance.

What David Crank is talking about sounds a lot like some teachings from Kris Vallotton over at Bethel. One thing I’ve really noticed with these types of teachers and super big in the charismatic world is this idea of “changing your thinking” comes from the word repentance. They are very hung up on saying repentance means to just change your mind. They say you don’t have a sin issue, you have a thinking issue. They say if you can change your mind about the sins(why you do them how you think about them) then you’ve conquered that sin in your life.

I am so thankful to the Lord and you for your exegesis and teaching of the Word of God Pastor Chris! I am having to unlearn all false teaching (word of faith etc) and relearn the truth of what the Bible by God the Holy Spirit is really teaching. We are sanctified by His truth! Amen and amen!
