Paleo Fail: Britannica Dromaeosaurs Article (Unscripted)

Just a quick video so you guys don't have to wait super long for a new video. This was based on a request I got from one of my subscribers, and I might consider making this a new series if it catches on, so please let me know if you enjoyed this in the comments! Also, be sure to correct me in the comments if I made any mistakes. This was completely unscripted, so that's why there's awkward pauses and some occasional flubs here and there.

So I looked at the article history once I finished recording, and this article was apparently last updated on January 27, 2011.

I once saw a person think, that a mammoth was dinosaur. LET ME REPEAT THAT, THIS GUY THOUGHT A MAMMOTH WAS A *DINOSAUR.*

I think the "unique wrist joint that allowed the hands to flex sideways" was likely referring to maniraptorans' grasping hands

They didnt actually have ossified tendons, they were indeed extensions of the vertebrae

The fact it's unscripted and that this man just had enough beef with this article to talk about it for 22 minutes makes it even better for me.

I’m willing to bet that even average people with no understanding on shrink-wrapping would look that dromeosaur and say, “Somebody put some meat on that poor creature.”

As for the illustration, where have I seen it before? Oh right! This art style is also seen in the animations of the 1992 documentary PBS The Dinosaurs. According to the end credits, they were done by Encyclopaedia Britannica, directed by David Alexovich. Really nostalgic and good 90's stuff, but please, an update is 100% necessary.

You gotta do more of these videos. I know you’re going through an editor’s block right now, but can you give us a date on JFC’s series-wide analysis?

I think the unique wrist joint thing is referent to how they could face their hands backwards.

Wait what? Deinonychus 1.8 m tall? Isn't that a bit too much?

Maybe you can do a video on the animations of PBS The Dinosaurs and compare them to the illustrations of the Encyclopaedia Britannica website.

Just a short, bare-bones early 2000s article summarizing dromeosaurs, written by someone who obviously did some research but clearly isn't well-immersed in paleontology. Nothing offensively bad, but nothing worth noting either in my opinion. I think even a 15-year-old kid with an interest in dinosaurs would find this article pretty predictable and uninformative, given how basic and short the info presented is. Jurassic Fight Club is a lot more interesting to discuss.

fluffy, winged bois with big claws = raptors?
Just thought of a way we could group all 'raptors'

Welp, depending by your definition of birds dromeosaurs can be "raptors" in its original sense.
