Five children killed in Australian bouncy castle accident - BBC News

Five children have died and four others have been injured after falling from a bouncy castle that was blown into the air in Australia, police say.

The accident - caused by a wind gust - happened on Thursday at a primary school fun day in Tasmania.

Authorities said the children had fallen from 10m (32ft), with both girls and boys among the victims.

Wow. It reminds you how fragile life is. Who would have thought that you had to worry that the wind could carry your kids away in a bounce house. As a parent and a teacher of primary children this simply shattered my heart.
Bouncy castles have to be anchored heavily and monitored. We had one put up at our fun day and a teacher had to man the castle the whole time (including myself). Maximum of 5 on at a time and it was secured to the ground.
Accidents happen and I am truly heartbroken for the parents and all those involved in caring for these beautiful children. As a teacher I could not imagine the pain of losing a student as they become your children.

so sad. was the bouncy castle not anchored? crazy how the wind picked it up and the kids fell from 30 ft! I've seen some inflatables get thrown across a yard or over a cliff from someones backyard.
