The targeting rule was implemented into the nfl in 2008. So before that there really wasn’t any penalty for “head to head” or targeting.

Hey NZ family I played quarterback in high school football and it could be very painful sometimes. You have such an awesome youtube channel keep up the amazing work and go Bengals

Lifelong Seahawks fan here. I loved watching Kam Chancellor play. He was a menace on the field to opposing teams. Hopefully you guys can make it to Seattle for a game! Its an amazing experience.

Hey NZ family. I love all your videos. I played football in high school. I was a linebacker, so was on the defense. To answer Nadine's question, yes it does hurt some when you hit. But I think a part of it has to do with momentum and force. When I was moving forward and hitting the offensive player, I felt like the blow was a lot less for me. Additionally, since I saw it coming, I controlled where I was hitting on my own body. In this way, the physics encouraged aggression really, as it hurts less to hit someone than to be hit.

The hit made on the #10 receiver diving for the football was brutal. That was Emmanuel Sanders for my hometown Broncos and he was severely injured from that play. Didn't return for a good while. If you wanna see another vicious hit like that, I suggest reacting to Johnny Knox's hit. Often voted as the most brutal hit in the NFL, and it ended his career.

I love your family and video's. Look up Dick Butkus of the Chicago Bears back in the 60's and early 70's. You want to see some hit's, he's the one to watch. He set the standard for the middle linebacker position. That man was feared. In 2009 the NFL voted him as the most feared linebacker. There is a video of him. Keep the videos coming.

Happy to see a number of my 49ers in the replays. Ronnie Lott (#42) was an intense hitter. He broke a finger on a tackle in one game. In order to miss the least amount of time in the season he opted to have it amputed at the knuckle vs having it set and heal.

The player that Dawkins hit you said was massive, played for my team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. They called him The Bus.
Yes, the players hitting, can definitely get hurt too. Many tackles in football is like being in a vehicle collision.

Each time one of you winced, I could feel it all the way over here in New York.

I’ve played football for 10 years mainly running back . I’ve had multiple concussions, can’t tell you how painful it is but the adrenaline you get is unmatched to anything .

Just a fact, "Laying the Lumber" hurts just as much as getting hit with it. All that padding does minimum protection. You're gonna feel it in the morning and a few days after, lol. All of these players have strict regiments of body care just to get ready for each week. Spending thousands of dollars a year to be in the best possible shape that can be in.

Yay! A new NZ video to brighten my day! 💕💕💕💕
The person giving the hit DOES NOT get hurt if they are using the correct posture and the hit is done correctly. My son is a 6 foot, 280 lb 16 year old, and has been playing football since age 4. He’s starting center, and hopefully will get a college scholarship. That’s the dream anyway!

I know I shouldn't be surprised by this because of how long I've known about the difference in hemispheres, but I still get a kick out of you guys chilling in summer gear when it's freezing here, and bundled up when it's burning up hot outside here.

Love that all of us online can share a world and understanding even when the weather itself is at complete opposites for us.

Hello New Zealand family from New York! I can't wait to see your video and be there for your Super Bowl party, I don't really watch Football, but my family loves it. I hope the Bengals win for you Denzel!

Nice reactions guys. For many years guys were taught to stick the helmet in, but to hit with the face not the crown. Those top of the helmet hits cause many injuries to the guy doing the hitting, due to the neck compression. Some of these clips would not be legal today, but they still happen. You guys (if you haven't already) should check out some of the more beautiful and graceful parts of the game. Here is a link to a video of the great running back Barry Sanders and 50 of his greatest runs. Where he grew up, they didn't have tackle football for kids, so he played flag football. He says he learned many of his moves and jukes then, making guys miss when trying to pull his flags. I saw an interview once with a defensive player who when asked about tackling (or trying to) Barry said I swear the guy can cut and change direction even when his feet are off the ground. LOL. Hope you all enjoy this. Okay YouTube won't let me copy and paste the link (maybe it's because it's an NFL channel video). Just search Barry Sanders 50 most ridiculous plays of all time. Cheers.

If you want to look up a devastating player look up Lyle alzado from the raiders he was a madman. He was voted the most feared player in NFL history.

Great video. Also that clip at 3:17 and it was mentioned how the guy he tackled wasn’t small either. The guy that was tackled was Jerome Bettis. A NFL hall of famer who had the nickname due to his size and power “The Bus”. Just goes to show how much power and force are going into any one of these hits.
