I recommend pouring the dirty water in your toilet. You don't want to clog your sink.

Vinegar does the same. I put a couple ounces in the clean water tank and that keeps both tanks fresh, and it is good cleaner for my LVP flooring. I have been doing this for a couple years now without any problems.

Listerine was first marketed as floor cleaner before they changed to advertising it as mouthwash.

You can put a tablespoon of citric acid powder into the dirty water tank. This will also kill most bacteria that causes smell and the water does not smell after all. Much cheaper at 8€ per kg.

Came back here to report fantastic results after trying this. Great solution! Thanks again

I use a little splash of distilled vinegar in my roborock! Also as a few people have pointed out, i pour down the toilet.

Alcohol 95% isopropyl 5% would do the same, only for just 2 USD per liter.

Pine Sol works perfectly fine too in the dirty water tank only, and I like to dilute it with some water too just incase. but it never touches the seals because the dirty water comes in from the top.

This is why the switchbot that has the refill station which plumbs in to the washing machine fill and return lines is so magic. There's no stagnant dirty water anywhere. It fills itself up before cleaning and flushes the dirty water out after each room and before returning to the charge station to dry itself. The mop dock also hides perfectly under my laundry cupboards.

...I'm amazed more companies haven't implemented that idea.

That makes sense because Listerine was originally made as a floor cleaner. They just pivoted because the market was saturated and they made up the term "halitosis" for marketing (which isn't a real medical condition) and added minty flavoring and made it a mouth wash.

I'm definitely trying this.

Roborock partnered with OMO to make a cleaner you can put in the clean water take now that has anti microbial agents to prevent the smell. Works great on my Q Revo.

This definitely would work, but you need to make sure you get the classic mouth wash with an alcohol base. The ones that do not contain alcohol may not have the same effect.

Or just dump the water out when the vacuum is finished and stop leaving it in there for a week.

Neat fix. I haven’t bought my first robo vac/mop yet, but looking to. Think I will definitely be buying one with a water line hook up to bypass this whole issue.

You can also try salt suitable for water softener. Salt kills bacteria too and is pretty cheap.

I dump the dirty water out immediately after it’s done.

Listerine was originally designed as a floor cleaner chemical. I hope it helps to explain where this urban trick came from

Wait, do you pour after the tank’s been in use, or before?
