Boy With Autism Shocks Mom by Singing 'Old Town Road'

There’s a good chance you've seen or heard about the viral tweet from our own Sheletta Brundidge, showing her mostly nonverbal autistic son singing along to the song, "Old Town Road” by rapper Lil Nas X, with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. The video of 4-year-old Daniel has been viewed over 1.4 million times with more than 40,000 likes and retweets combined since she published the post on June 4.

My 5year old son who also has autisme and is now finally getting better at talking. He started singing before talking and old town road has been on non stop repeat every day for a few months now. And we aren't even english speaking, but he can sing in English and understands English really good throught music. The first time your kid finally can talk/sing is just amazing, i can imagine her joy . Good luck Daniel

What a nice song that the kids can sing and enjoy without bad words. Thank God for using Lil Nas song Old Town Road to help your son. I have two Grandsons who comes and visit every weekend and they play old town road over and over again. They got me hooked on the song now I listened to the song even when they aren't over 😊

I’m a speech therapist, my 3 yo son, while not on the spectrum, has expressive language delay due to history of chronic otitis media and Eustachian tube dysfunction. His sentence length is pretty short for his age. This song has my son and his 1 yr old sister singing all the time and it’s their fave song. We include music in our at home therapy all the time along with his visits to his speech therapist. Music therapy is great for kids on the spectrum!! Great vid!!
