You missed a word that is dominant in this story. Its a precursor to faith. Its a spring board of faith. It's how we build our faith in Christ. Its used over and over in the 3rd chapter. Its vey important to this text.

Doesn't vs 20 infer that MM is in the process of receiving knowledge/his endowment?
