The Montpelier Foundation celebrates a new chapter in its interpretation of the American story with the groundbreaking of the South Yard enslaved community site. The site's six structures, which include two living duplexes, a kitchen, and two smokehouses, will be fully restored and furnished in coming years, helping to illustrate the experiences and contributions of the six generations of enslaved African American who lived and worked at Montpelier. The South Yard's reconstruction is made possible by the generous support of David M. Rubenstein. Credits: Abe Costanza (filming/editing); Abel Okugawa (music).
