Dual citizenship should not be used when you are a politician/public servant. That is a huge conflict of interest. It should be suspended while they are in office.

The privileges you enjoy having dual citizenship; includes access to the social services programs and systems of two countries.
You can also vote in local elections and may be able to run for office in either country.
Moreover, you can work in either country without work permits or visas. You can attend universities in either country at the tuition rate offered to citizens,
as opposed to the higher tuition rate often applied for foreign students.

As a Venezuelan born in the 90s (post oil-golden era for that country), I know first hand what he means when he says it’s important to have options. I saw how my mother and her siblings were unable to get their second citizenship by descent from Trinidad and Tobago, once things got terribly bad in my country. My grandparents had both US residency and Caribbean citizenship, but because things were going so well in Venezuela in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, they didn’t work on securing and passing along those other options; and their children never thought things would get this bad. It only took less than 30 years to see things turn around for the worst.

Honestly, seeing how unfairly Canadian citizens were treated recently made me rethink my rule of " if you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about"...

It is beyond me how you can have members in the congress that are deciding the future of your country and yet they have allegiance to some other country. Especially if those members are overwhelmingy holding dual citizenships from ONE particular country.

Can’t let the slaves leave the plantation. The most egregious part is they are calling people who don’t want to be devoured by greedy politicians “traffickers” to fool the plebs into thinking this is to fight drug trafficking. So rather than leave, people who want to keep their freedom will have to fight for it. US customs was upset when they found out I was a dual citizen (which is insane) when I flew into Chicago. I obtained citizenship by descent in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 via DNA 🧬 test (they have a right of return policy similar to Israel 🇮🇱) & they were shocked I received it within 10 days. I do not plan on giving up my US citizenship (I think they are ignoring peoples requests to renounce citizenship nowadays), but I do plan on obtaining citizenship in more countries as I loathe visas & want a backup option.

Govt affiliated families are concerned about losing what they believe is their share of your money (50-60%). Not being able to take your money could be a disaster for their families.

I learned when working for the federal government that if a person came to the United States that if a person opened a business in the US and employed twenty five people or more they could immediately apply for citizenship while other immigrants have to wait five years to apply and take their exam for citizenship.

I had been an expatpat for over 27 years of my life and did tested the fact that we were dual tracks as Americans wear everywhere else we were not. Dual citizenship is a right.
But still the issue that we have legal loopholes where corporations pay zero tax that is a crime and that’s what we should be going after

I'm an American living in Thailand. I have been in Thailand for 15 years mostly on visa runs but the Thai government put a stop to that about 3 years ago so I had to get a retirement visa. They make it so hard that you have to hire someone to do everything for you.

They have just recently added a 10 year visa but if I understand it correctly you have to put $80, 000.00 in a bank and you can't touch it until your 10 years are up. If I had a spare $80, 000.00 I probably wouldn't be living in Thailand.

They also announced a visa for investment in a business, there are some stipulations and I'm not sure what it is but I do know you have to invest a significant amount of money and you can only own 49 percent of the business. A local Thai person has to own 51 percent of the business. I think thats about all I have for you now.

Thank you for sharing this information. On the other hand, no one will come after you because no one cares how well off you are or may be. As long as the law of the land you intend to live or do business is not broken, everyone of us is free to move where they please.
