Using elephants biggest fear to save them

💬 🔜 💯 🐝  Comment to add 100 bees right now!

The elephant population in Tanzania has declined massively since the 1970s. In search of usable land, farmers are expanding into elephant territories. This leads to conflicts between elephants and humans, resulting in casualties on both sides.

In our tenth mission, we’re protecting the elephants in Tanzania — using a fascinating fact about elephants that few people know about and with the help of the small but mighty honeybee. Credit for the amazing solution portrayed in this video goes to Lucy King, who pioneered the concept. We hope many more will follow her example.

🐝Comment to add 100 bees right now!
💬 How does it work? An average beehive hosts around 50, 000 bees. We will add one beehive to the fence for every 500 people who comment below before the end of January, which equals 100 bees for each of you who comments.

My Dad's been a bee keeper for over 65 yrs. He's 101. I absolutely love bee's. Not just for the delicious, healthy honey, but for all the many benefits of them. Save the bee's, save the elephants, and save all of nature's gifts.

What a wonderful idea. I’m from Australia, seriously allergic to bees, but in awe over what you’re achieving. Well done👍

So appreciative of the way you partner with the locals. They have the creativity, smarts and will, just need the financial backing. Love their solution to multiple challenges!

I am impressed at the ability of this community to find things they can actually affect that actually change the situation.

Bees are my mascot for world building. They are such a huge, but largely forgotten, part of our lives. Humanity has foolishly and selfishly strived to remove the wild for its own greed, but now we and our descendants are feverishly fighting against an existential swan dive of livability.
Thank you Planet Wild, for all you and your supporters do to rectify our ancestors' folly.

Another excellent video Planet Wild. It's incredibly fascinating how the innate fear of bees is being used to manage the elephants!

I love this idea. Conflicts arise when we constantly seek to dominate nature, but by adopting a mindset of finding ways to collaborate with nature, many problems and conflicts can be solved, in a way that benefits both humans and nature. I think this story is a great example.

I want to say thank you and congratulations to Planet Wild for another job well done. Not only are they saving the greatly endangered species of African elephants, but they are also promoting bee sustainability and women entrepreneurship. Thank you too Planet Wild and now you can add another 100 bees! 🐘🐝👩🏿😁

This is a great way to minimize conflict between elephants and humans.
