An 18-month-old Ivy Angerman was recently diagnosed with Aquagenic Urticaria, a rare allergy to water which causes severe hives and rashes. The Angerman's doctor told the family that Ivy may be the youngest person to ever be diagnosed with the condition, which usually develops during a person's teenage years.

I feel so sad for this child not even even to feel water is the worst thing that could ever happen. Stay safe

I think it would be more accurate to say that the body is reacting to water for reasons doctors don’t yet understand. It’s not a true allergy since we are made of water, but the skin is reacting to any surface water it comes into contact with. They could be producing something on the skin, through sweat that reacts with water as one potential possibility. Or the water could be damaging the surface tissue because of something wrong with the tissue integrity itself. So much still to learn.

That's got to be the worst allergy I've ever heard of. That, or the boy allergic to food.

I’m really glad this video was made because to this day me and my mom are the only people I know with this condition. I’m happy it has a name and we’re not just abnormal. If the parents are reading this I wanna tell u it’s never gonna go away but ur daughter can live a very healthy life regardless. I take no medication for it. The only relief I’ve found is when I get out of a shower immediately put on a non-scented lotion or vasoline that’ll cool it down immediately. But be careful with her face as that is the most reactive area. Also the hotter the water the more of a reaction I have so if she can do cool baths I’d recommend it. It’s great that this is being recognized at a young age because I’ve had it for 25 years and I’m just learning there’s actually a name for this

My son developed this condition when he was a baby and got worse when he reached 4 or 5 years old. He is 23 now and still has it. There are no issues if he drinks water, but even if he sweets, he will devolpe a rash or hives but that's is do to the fast changes of temperature.

This is awful.. can you imagine if she caught the flu or a cold and ran a fever? She’ll sweat and that’s something you can’t control—then she’ll break out in hives too. This is just plain awful. That poor baby and to the other rare few that have to live with this allergy, I just can’t even begin to imagine how difficult life is for them.

I am allergic to water with very high acidity levels, especially with rainwater. A drop of it can cause a lot of rashes on the said area. That's I cannot go under the rain with any of my skin exposed.

Listen at 1:40 in the video. If experts say to "PURIFY" they're water system. Then its gotta be *something* in the water and not the water itself. I highly suspect she is allergic/sensitive to the chlorine or the fluoride that's in tap water now days.

in the other video it was told that she can drink water fine. just not on her skin. also if someone can't drink water they can't survive.

I am allergic to water, swelling, red itchy spots and other as usual, and even after 5 minutes of shower, i can't handle it. I've been allergic to water for years and i don't go to the beach , like anyone else but i hope some other people in this world don't get this allergy.

Easy it's not the water it's what's in the she had liquids filtered by her kidneys and alive so logically she pees right? Try spring water or match the liquid inside her document what it composes of inside her and match it to a fluid that matches to keep her alive also might work with bath water. In essence she needs the proper fluids not just fluids.

I wonder how terrible this is even if the body is 70% water. The previous edit was not me

I got similar reaction to a cold water if they touched my knees, it's immediately feel burn and itchy and there's like a mosquito bites around my knees after a cold water touched it.. Especially if i took an early morning shower, even though I've been showering with hot water, after I got our of the shower, the cold catch up sp fast

I don't know, it seems unlikely that it would be a water allergy as it just might be a sensitivity to the pH of the water source.

But she would already be dead on the inside because blood is also a liquid and water is allways in a perons body. But I feel so sad about this and pls donate to her cause.
