In Part 2 I get this blazing fast 50cc scooter back on track and running as good as new. Turns out there was more than one issue causing the no-start and lean condition.

Enjoy!

Thank you! I learned more about how to check a carburetor from 5 minutes of this video than I have in the past by reading and talking with people. Far too many people skip over details or just assume that people know some very basic concepts where you don't - thanks again for these videos they help a great deal!

I watched these two videos last night and today got my scooter running using the info.
Thanks very much from Australia.

I had an issue with an Arctic Cat ATV. I took the air filter box cover off to start it and forgot to put it back on. It kept dying out when I gave it gas. Put the cover back on and it ran perfect. Great videos. You got a fan in Oregon.

Great video. Just an FYI, I had a very similar issue on my Café Racer. I finally discovered that the issue was the gas cap being sealed off too well and causing a vacuum effect in the tank area which didn't allow for the gas to come down to the carb at the necessary rate. To make sure this isn't the issue for you, just crack open the fuel cap and start it up. If it runs well, then you might want to make sure nothing is blocking off the breather portion of the gas cap.

Get rid of the oil injection and go to premix. Oil will preserve the gas so the idle jet won't clog. Best scooter video I've seen in a long time. I use a $12 jet cleaning tool and seafoam, works get. Seafoam is also a great fuel preservative.

Terrific!
Great stuff for me to know as the owner of a "Genuine (Chicago-based company) Buddy 50" scooter, made not in crappy China, but in Taiwan, by PGO, a major player in Asian scooters. I love my scooter!
I do have to admit that three weeks ago, the devil made me buy a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS KRT Edition, so that at the ripe age of 73, I can feel like a 21 year old.

You're right Ivan, that was fun. I always look forward to carb cleaning and rebuilds. Don't know why but there's just something satisfying about it. My favorites were the carbs on the Briggs and Stratton racing engines. Those were the days.

Ivan, good repair and I know you enjoy fixing broke vehicles like I do. One time I even had a airboat with a air cooled VW engine not running right in my shop (long ago). That was a fun fix.Keep up the good works and vids.

When you have an open air 2 wheeler one just HAS to take it for a test drive. The only thing better to show off the beauty of the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, is the test drive you took after fixing the electrical charging problem on the BMW bike in the summer of 2015. Envious of your location! Keep up the good work and videos!

One of the best instructional videos I've seen. Clear, methodical, easy to understand. Thorough.

Pick up a 50cc Chinese scooter at the end of summer for $60.00. The scooter was in pieces as the previous owner tore it apart to repaint it. He lost interest and decided to sell the scooter rather than put it back together. Thanks for the tip on oiling the foam filter. No manual came with the scooter so I wasn't aware that you needed to oil the filter. I run K&N filter on my G35 so I'm going to use that oil for the foam filter.

Hey Ivan, I'm sure your buddy will love his scoter now since it probably never ran correctly form the day he bought it from the dealer. Good work!!

Air box and filter is important on any small carbureted engine.. Mainly any motorcycle or similar... If it's fuel injected then not so much...
