In the '80s and '90s, Ft Worth and the surrounding area was home to Nokia, Motorola, and TI. Manufacturing jobs drove a great economy, and product quality was strong. Then within 3 years of NAFTA becoming law, all those phones, pagers, etc., were being produced by children in Mexico for cents-on-the-dollar. All our jobs disappeared. When we complained that we were underemployed or unemployed, we were greeted with "learn to code". Then after you retrain (at your own expense) for jobs in the IT sector, they start using H1-B visas to import IT staff. I don't have a problem with investors realizing a return on their investment, but we've abandoned main street to build up Wall street. We'll eventually get to a point where it won't matter how cheap the new iPhone is, because no has a job to buy it. So Ben, like tariffs, "free-trade" has benefitted a narrow few, while harming many.

I don't get it. Michelle Obama is one of the singularly unaccomplished people on the planet. She was given the world on a silver platter, going to Princeton and Harvard. She worked at Sidley & Austin for a couple months before quitting and working in city government. Essentially, she did nothing except get appointed to positions based on her marriage to Barrack Obama. I don't like Barrack Obama's politics, but at least I can see that he worked as a lawyer for several years. What has Michelle Obama actually done?
