I always wondered why having multiple wives was permitted but a wife could not take more than one husband. Seems like a double standard to me.

I don't know why are people trying to justify this particular rule. It's baseless and makes no sense and is patriarchal and reduces the sense of worth of a woman to merely being a wife.

This is one of the most painful topics for most women.. it really breaks marriages. If a man has decided to have more wives he could start from the begging before he even get one. So before he get married he tell her his intentions of having more wives in future lol. Why do we have to go through that pain of the person whom we trust the most to ask to get married to someone else or do it secretly. For me that is cheating.
If a woman says that to her husband "let's divorce and I will get married to your friend who is in need and cannot find a wife, in the name of Allah" how will the husband react lol.
So it's fine when men do it to women, but it's not when women do it to men. Very interesting.

I've been with a Muslim man for 2 almost 3 years, and we don't like to share. He's also the jealous type. But even if he was poly, I wouldn't allow it. I'm very possessive and so is he. If other people likes that kind of relationship and it works out, then I guess good for them. But I prefer to not feel cheated or like a third wheel.

Honestly I'm Muslim and I agree with this but I kinda think it's not really good because it's like oh so your partner is not enough for you? And I guess it's nice theres a choice for both sooo

My conscience tells me most women cannot/do not agree willingly with polygamy. If they do it's because they are already so deep in the Islamic world they have no choice but to defend it.

And for them, I fear the Muslim men that take advantage of this

My oncle's wife grew up in a bigamous family. Her dad was married to two women. Her mom and another lady. She said it was funny cause she was raised by the Stepmom and her siblings from Stepmom were raised by her mom. They kind of switched children lol. But they got on very well according to her.

Polyandry ( a women having multiple husbands) it exists too. Though it is not as common, though neither is a man with multiple wives, it can happen. Just look it up if you want. Also I don’t like how everyone is hating on being polyamorous. If it isn’t for you and your partner great. But don’t hate on others. It’s not like how it was back then. If both parties don’t agree, then that’s called cheating, not polyamorous. There are documentaries and articles and YouTube videos if you are interested.

Thank you for educating about the real stuffs like this in Islam. People always show the best parts, but not controversial or hard to digest parts of Islam.
