Saw this today on a product and i'ma having a hard time with the word order. I understand the words....but not the order of the sentence.
It reads "Lassen(leave) Sie(they?) Ihr(you, formal) kind(child) nie(never?) Unbeaufsichtigt(unattended?). In French it would be "ne laissez jamais votre enfant sans surveillance".I imagined the sentence order would be the same in german and and confused as to why it isn't. Please help me with this.

Still don't get it ☹. Why can't you say 'ich habe nicht einen Hund'? Isn't the nicht negating the verb haben i.e. 'I don't have..'?
