Zeppelin, The Animals, Nirvana... Damn Lead Belly was influential. I am very thankful for this man.

To all you people spewing hateful words towards Led Zeppelin in the comments: the only Led Zeppelin fans who will see them are also, likely Leadbelly fans so there's no need for all the hate. Furthermore Led Zepp were obviously Leadbelly fans as well.

Try not to clutter up all this goodness with your hate.

He's playing a Stella 12-string that sold for about $2. They were almost impossible to play, the action was so high. Leadbelly was a master.

Here I am in 2022 showing this song to my young son and he loves it.
RIP Leadbelly. We'll never forget you. Modern day folk hero.

Leadbelly is amazing but he never claimed any of these songs as his. He learnt them from someone just as Zepplin learnt them from him. That is what folk music is all about.

You can hear rock and roll alive before its birth right here.

Words cannot describe how amazed I am by this, Led Zeppelin did this but they were a band, Leadbelly is doing this ALL by himself.

I'm 48 years old and I don't think I've ever heard of Lead Belly before today. Two songs in and I'm in love.

I am from the Deep South and what was done to human beings there was unspeakable. Let us not forget it happened all over this country. It began with the Natives. Keep these precious historical recording alive for future generations.

Leadbelly was simply a remarkable musician and human being; This music is so superior to the over-produced, factory tunes spewed out today. Incredible talent I've been listening to and deeply appreciating for over half a century. Deep and profound.

Someone forgot to tell Leadbelly you can’t play a 12 string that fast

This is what European rock liked. Led Zep loved this stuff. It's what Elvis heard. Inspired a hell of a lot of people. Love it, from Memphis.

I’m here for Leadbelly and no one else.

Back in the 60s there was a huge blues revival. Tons of these British dudes RESPECTED these old guys and LOOKED for these guys because they were legends to them. Like john lee hooker and canned heat. And guts like alan lomax started documenting these wonderful people. I say good on zep for keeping my peoples music alive.

This man single handedly got pardoned from death row by writing a song to the governor, which moved him so
