It was a shame that this lady didn't have more recordings on Motown, she is very young here on this released one of hers. This is Motown 1064 and the other side of "My Smile Is Just A Frown Turned Upside Down" which was released in August 1964. Mary Wells version of "Whisper You Love Me Boy" (which I have added) would have been Motown 1065, but was withdrawn coincidentally! If you like Carolyn, type in these numbers of my 8 additions so far:
20, 27,(a favourite) 240, 279, 298, 492,(a favourite) 510, and this one 525. Many thanks for listening friends. JOHN

I agree, she has a wonderful voice and somehow got lost in the mix of artists Motown had at the time!

Of her 3 releases on Motown, only the flip side, "My Smile . . ." charted on any Billboard charts. It debuted on the 'Top R&B/Soul" chart in February, 1965 at #39 and was gone the next week. This song still had the "rough edged soul" sound of early Motown which is a nice change of pace to the polished sound of later years. Ms. Crawford had 3 more single releases on Philadelphia International Records in the mid-70's with no more success than she had with Motown. Only "Coming on Strong" on Mercury could find its way on to the "Soul" chart in 1979. Very sad this singer did not have more success.

She could have been a star if she had been marketed better. She had talent
