I had the same year hardbody with a manual transmission and the 4 cylinder, 8 spark plugs engine. No A/C, no power locks or windows but was a solid mini truck. I had to sell it back in 2005 when I moved out of state but I sold to my friend's dad who still has to this day and it's still running strong 😁

Actually, BOTH the Nissans and Toyota Trucks from the 80's were like the BEST trucks ever made.
Some carmaker should create "simple" cars again, because they CAN be created to be less polluting as well.

The reason I'm still driving my 1985 Toyota 4wd pickup. Under powered (22RE) but extremely reliable. I'm closing in on 300, 000 hard Alaskan miles. (not racking them up on interstates)

I had A 94 and 97 Nissan hard body. They were the best trucks I had. I did not have any problems with them. I miss those trucks.

My mother had one of those in the 80s. Got into a head on collision when the guy in the other lane pulled over and hit her at speed. She lived through the wreck, needing a new knee and hip replacement, but she survived, due to the construction of the truck! I will ever be thankful for Nissan making it as tough as it was!

I have a 2000 Nissan frontier. I bought it for $500 and replaced the timing chain with my father. Love it. It has never let me down in the 4 years I've had it.

I am 82 and have owned many, many vehicles of all brands. The most reliable one was a 94 Ford 4 cylinder with manual transmission, I sold it to a friend with 367, 000 miles. Original clutch.

Brings back some memories! I had an 89 and it was the best vehicle I ever owned. That truck was solid built and the v6 was a great engine. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

Agree with you Scotty. I had a Nissan 1986.5 regular cab truck, bench seat, manual transmission, V6, 4x4 with manual lock hubs. 303, 000 miles. On & off road all over the Rocky Mountains. The first and best truck I had ever owned.

Yoooo im new to the mechanic world. My 86 datsun/Nissan 4 cylinder 8 spark plug manual was over heating. I watched your thermostat video after cutting back the heater core hose back a half inch due to a slit. You saved my truck brutha!!! I'm glad to be well subscribed to your channel sir.

bought a 1985 nissan 720 pickup last year for 1, 000. Its a 3 speed with only 80k, I got it from some old man who sold it because and I quote " i got too many cars man". Ditched the old carb because it had problems like scotty described and put a weber on there, its been a fun and reliable truck to me so far.

Definitely one of the best underrated small trucks ever made. Same with the Toyota that had the 22re motor(86-94)

I had a 86 1/2 Hardbody Nissan truck, 4 cylinder, 8 spark plugs. Ran great... never any problems.

The Nissan hard body is a legend... Tyco rx made them as an rc car mass production... Ever see that with a Toyota? Yes but it was in kit form. Now they reproduce the Toyota more than the hard body... Tyco knew what they were doing

Back when Nissan made good stuff. I love these old trucks. They will go forever and weren't built to be replaced like the new ones.

Original owner, mine is a 87 2wd, going to get it running this year. Hauled six cords of wood for nine years straight in Montana and the truck out lived four deer. Lol :)
