In another thread, DW themselves said that Coliauta would have been a part of this if not for a scheduling conflict. Having said that, I agree that I would loved to also have Aynsley Dunbar be a part of this, or anyone else who ever swung a drumstick for Frank over the decades.

I agree, this is missing Vinnies insight, however, I am happy to see Ruth in this!

And Chester's and Ralph's drum fill they were referring to on More Trouble Every Day became additionally "famous" beginning in 1977 when Chester taught it to Phil Collins and then he and Chester subsequently used it in the closing instrumental coda of the Genesis song Afterglow and continued to use it in concert for the next 30 years.

The (in)famous Jim Gordon also played for Zappa and he is still alive.

By the way, even if the "the indian of the group" wa still alive, I doubt it if he would have showed up (if he was invited that is). The few times I saw him being interviewed on Zappa, he was usually very negative and called Captain Beefheart the real genius in comparion to Frank.

I believe the full show is available on youtube somewhere.

I hope they could do this again w/ Vinnie, Aynsley via Zoom or something now that everyone’s schedule is free coz of this pandemic.

@b0b1919 I believe he was touring with Jeff Beck at the time; he was busy.

Are all Zappa's drummers are still alive (except Jimmy Carl Black)? That bucks the trend.

no Vinnie is a truly shocking omission. Vinnie's groove on Dong Work for Yuda is one of the best in all Zappa

Um, I'm thinking what everyone is thinking. Where's Vinnie? Obviously, there's a story here...

I would rather hear from Aynsley than Vinnie. I don't think I have ever seen him interviewed.
