You could also use the sand to suffocate and respawn out of the prison. But that would be too easy.

If someone tries this on their world, just load a certain snapshot (which name I forgot cuz I have a life and don't spend 23 hours in Minecraft) where if you drop a gravel block or a sand above you - you just fall through all blocks straight to the void and thus die and leave this room

This reminds me of how I would escape claimed areas while exploring on old servers, by hopping on these ghost blocks as the claim deleted the blocks as I placed them, and towering out that way.

It does works best when you are in an area (plugin) where you can not place blocks on servers.
